01 Our story

Founded in 2018 on a simple idea.

A small, experienced team that communicates like an in-house one is worth more than a large team you have to manage.

We started Blackbird to be the engineering partner we’d want to hire ourselves: engineers who ask hard questions early, write things down and take responsibility for what reaches production.

Since then we’ve worked with founders, CTOs and engineering leaders in fintech, banking, retail, restaurant tech, EV charging and enterprise software, from first MVPs to platforms that carry real revenue.

Today our engineers drive AI coding agents every day. What hasn’t changed is the part clients hire us for: judgment, ownership and clear communication. We also build and run our own products, which keeps us honest about what it takes to own software end to end.
